Welcome
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and a principal investigator in the Evolutionary Systems and Biomedical Engineering Lab at the Institute for Systems and Robotics in Lisbon.
My ongoing research pursuits encompass the exploration of diverse areas:
Brain Dynamics and Control: I am actively engaged in a comprehensive investigation of brain dynamics. My approach involves employing predictive dynamical systems to model brain activity, thereby revealing fresh insights into the brain's functioning under both healthy and pathological conditions. My ultimate goal in this area is to harness the power of control systems theory to develop innovative diagnostic tools and treatment strategies for neurological diseases.
Fundamental Research in Control Systems Theory: Another facet of my research is dedicated to advancing our understanding of control systems theory. I delve into the intricacies of global qualitative and quantitative behavior analysis for large-scale systems, starting from their structural or parametric specifications. My work also focuses on establishing a robust framework for designing, analyzing, optimizing, and controlling large-scale systems. This framework ensures compliance with stringent security, privacy, and performance criteria, making it applicable to many practical scenarios.
